| The network is roughly a rectangle with Midhurst at its centre. The countryside is varied - chalky downs with wonderful views and sandy heaths interspersed with a surprising amount of woodland. The rides take you up onto the South Downs, past Goodwood race-course (not on race days though) and across the picturesque Rother valley with its time-warp villages of flint and thatch.
Mountain-biking is good on the Downs in the south of the network (2-day & 3-day rides and the one-centre holiday near Chichester). In the north east the sandy tracks are great for horses, but they can be hard going for all but the fittest cyclists. There are some hills (2-300 feet) - and although our routes avoid the hard, flinty parts of the South Downs Way as far as possible, there are still a few stony tracks.
