Brechfa Forest
Brechfa Forest covers around 30,000 acres of South West Wales. Although it is a long journey from most major centres of population in England, it is close to the motorway network and readily accessible from Carmarthen via the M4 andA48 dual carriageway.

The forest tracks make for relatively easy riding, and there are no gates within the Forest itself, although you'll find one or two in the surrounding area. Although it is a hilly, most of the ascents are long, gradual climbs - which makes it suitable for less experienced Bridle Riders - but you still need a fit horse! You are also within an hour's drive of the sea if you fancy taking a rest day.

We completed Phase 1 of the research riding, which focused on the southern half of the network area, at the end of May 2007.

To start with, we have a one centre holiday at Llanllawddog with just one double or twin room ready for booking now, with grazing or stabling available for horses and additional human accommodation coming on stream for 2008. There's also a 2-day place to place ride between Llanllawddog and Llanfynydd, where only grazing is available.

Phase 2 will extend the network north and east towards Abergorlech, Rhydcymerau and Llanllwni which, as long as we can find new hosts in the right locations, will hopefully be ready for next year.

All the photos on this page are of Bobbie and Herbie from Bridle Rides doing the research riding in May 2007. We'd love some customer photos and previous rider comments to add to them!
